The day was a stereotypical ideal race day: a warm spring day, a nice breeze in the wind. Engines roared from one sector of the Izumi Club Circuit to the other, the crowd watching on with eager anticipation as battles unfolded throughout the race. For Makoto Kikuchi and her father Shinichi, this was typical. But one thing was not: this day was the first time Shinichi would be battling for the lead. Fighting for the first place in his trusty Honda S2000, he exchanged lead and following roles with rising star Nori Murakami and his Nissan S15 Silvia.
